How is our data collected?

With Mozilla Firefox® Web browser you can see Dynamite Data in action right now!

When you visit a single product page on an online merchant site, Dynamite Data's Firefox Add-On snaps into action, scouring the Web for the lowest prices on the exact same electronics products available from other e-commerce sites. Unlike existing shopper sites and add-ons, Dynamite reports the lowest prices from any merchant  -- not just the “paid placement” sites. Dynamite only displays “real” prices – in stock, up-to-date and available to buy right now – and current rebates and free-shipping promotions are added right in.

With Dynamite running in the background, you'll always have the option of paying rock-bottom prices for the products you want.

HOW IT WORKS

Dynamite Data Add-on extension looks for products as you visit merchants supported in our database. The extension submits product page URLs to our servers, initiating our Quarry Miner robot to locate information about that product -- including the most up to date pricing.

As part of this process, Dynamite Data servers ask your extension for the full HTML of merchant product pages so that we can parse it and update our records. This allows us to cut down on the number of pages our robot has to crawl, saving computing time for the merchant.

Disclaimer
Dynamite Data Add-on is cutting edge software. We use it for industrial scraping on consumer electronics, but it does work on other products as well. Some of the algorithms we use occasionally change from time to time, resulting in the application suggesting a very similar product if it cannot find an exact match. Rest assured, it's our mission to improve the accuracy, and with your feedback we can improve the algorithms very quickly. Do you have a question about the Dynamite Data Firefox Extension Add-on? Did you find a bug? Speak to us directly via our Contact Portal.

How is our data collected?

Dynamite Data is a revolutionary way to look at product pricing, based on our revolutionary robot technology: Quarry Miner.

Other price analysis tools rely on merchants to "feed" price information to the aggregator. If the merchant sends incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate data over the feed, or does not have a feed at all, all bets are off. Dynamite Data's Quarry Miner is the first metamorphic Web robot specifically designed to monitor this specific data in real- time, eliminating the need for feeds.

Quarry Miner (QM) hunts for buy page URLs at recognized merchants across the Internet. It's Web spidering, but on a grand scale with state-of-the-art parsing techniques. Quarry Miner can interpret all commercially available e-commerce portals with better-than-human accuracy. Quarry Miner is different than most Web robots, because it's actively looking for useful datatypes such as product price and rebate information, as opposed to just parsing XML or HTML.

Why Firefox?

Mozilla's Firefox contains a rudimentary framework for interacting with our enterprise application layer. We provide this data free of charge, though the extension can only read a small subset of the data available to our subscription clients. In the spirit of the Mozilla Foundation's efforts, and in conjunction with the mature Mozilla Add Ons Portal, Firefox became the obvious choice for us to launch our end-user service.

Dynamite Data is currently available with Firefox 3.x only.
