In Plain English
Dynamite Data is a research corporation. We specifically make money by selling the data we collect from merchants, and the aggregated data from thousands of consumers who use our products. Our consumer data model is the same as that used by cable television tracking services and secret shopper programs. However, we do not, under any circumstances including merger or acquisition, share personal information about our users with third parties.
• We do not collect, store or transmit any personal data about our users with the exception of registration data and email, which we are required to store in compliance with Nevada state law.
• Dynamite Data only stores registration data for businesses using our Channel Monitor™ services.
• We keep HTTP access logs that are used for the sole purpose of troubleshooting and improving our services.
• We store a minimal set of cookies on your computer for authentication purposes for our Channel Monitor™ software.
• We collect aggregate usage data that we in turn sell to third parties. This is how we're able to provide programs like our Browser Add-ons for free.
Cookies: Dynamite Data stores up to five cookies on the dynamitedata.com domain. These cookies only exist to authenticate your computer to use Dynamite Data products, and cookie data is not retained by Dynamite Data. We do not tie personal information to cookies on the site.
Passwords: Dynamite Data stores no passwords in its system. All passwords are generated into a hash when created, and our systems store the hashed value. When you attempt to login to our system the hashed value is compared with our database. Dynamite Data employees will never ask you for your login information. More information about password hashing is available on Wikipedia under "Cryptographic hash functions."
Registration Information: Registration information is stored on dynamitedata.com servers until the account has been deactivated or unused for 1 year. Specific user information is not shared with third-party sources, and your e-mail address will never be used for e-mail other than account-specific purposes, like updating your password or sending you a product or service change alert. Dynamite Data employees will never ask you for your password or other account information.
Dynamite Data Browser Add-ons: Dynamite Data's comparison shopping service only functions when the user is detected to be at a supported merchant's website. On a supported merchant's website, all visited URLs are searched against Dynamite Data's database of products. If the submitted URL matches with a product that Dynamite Data tracks, search results are transmitted back to the user and displayed in their browser.
The Dynamite Data browser add-ons also gathers two additional types of data under extremely limited circumstances, both of which can be opted out of via the add-on's Feedback/Options window: a background web page downloader that retreives merchants' product pages on Dynamite Data's behalf, and a troubleshooting log (which contains basic information on user preferences, the search results of recently viewed products, and internal parameters) that is optionally transmitted with user feedback from the Feedback/Options window. Both of these data sources are scrubbed of personally-identifiable information -- including URLs visited and cookies -- before being transmitted to Dynamite Data's servers.
Comments: If you post a comment on this Web site, you should be aware that any personally identifiable information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by other users of these forums, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these forums.
Security: We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. These methods include the use of dedicated firewalls, high-security network operations centers and encrypted storage devices. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
We reserve the right to modify this privacy statement at any time, so please review it frequently. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here, by email, or by means of a notice on our home page. With each revision, the datestamp at the top of this document will be updated with the current date.
Additional Information: Personal information may be disclosed to judicial or other government agencies subject to warrants, subpoenas, or other governmental orders.
Dynamite Data does not intentionally collect any information on children under 13 years of age, and none of Dynamite Data's services are designed to attract children. Dynamite Data will immediately delete any and all such information as soon as it is notified of it.
